If you are curious or even passionate about hats, learning millinery may be just for you.
Learning to make hats in Perth has proved to be very difficult with most of the major educational institutions not offering millinery courses that are readily available in other states. To overcome this, I have been travelling East to Millinery Conferences for many years, where I have had the great fortune to learn from many of Australia's best milliners and even a brief class with the Queen's Mother's milliner.
Due to the increasing requests for classes, I am now happy to offer millinery classes on a one to one basis or a class of up to four people. I am happy to design the classes around what you want to learn rather than a preset class.
Classes can be scheduled on weekends, nights or days depending upon availability.
The classes are charged by the hour, so you get to determine your budget. Materials will be an extra charge, or you are welcome to purchase your own supplies.
Please feel free to ring me and discuss what type of class you would like and I will then draw up a materials list so you are aware of costs.
For inspiration, some of the classes that have been taught are:
- Fascinators,
- Felt Hats,
- Race Wear/Catwalk hats,
- Bridal headpieces (not metal tiaras),
- Silk Flower making,
- Fabric Hats,
- Trimming hats.
